After School

Ponderosa Elementary is proud to offer a variety of enrichment opportunities for students. Check your Monday folder and for posted flyers around campus to find out about the latest classes, meetings, and seminars.

 

The following after school activities are offered during the year and are led by teacher and/or parent volunteers. Most of these programs are limited to upper grades only (4th/5th or 5th).

  • Flag Football - fall
  • FSEA (Future Scientists and Engineers of America)
    • FSEA is a parent-run after school program designed to introduce students to science and engineering using a project based approach.
  • Gardening Club - all grades
    • ​Gardening instruction is currently offered during the school day.  Ask your child about what they've been planting.
  • Math Olympiad - October through March
    • Math Olympiad is a very challenging after school program with weekly problem solving sessions and monthly worldwide competitions for students who excel in math.
  • Migrant Ed. Homework Club
  • Ponderosa Star
    • ​The Ponderosa Star is a parent-run student newspaper which meets during lunchtime once a week. It is open to 4th and 5th graders and 3rd graders during the second half of the school year. The newspaper includes items such as articles on school events, student interests, book reviews, crafts, puzzles and a comic strip.
  • Volleyball - spring

 

The following activities are held on campus and are led by outside organizations. These activities are open to most grades.  Check for flyers in your Monday folder and announcements in the Press.

  • Kids Club - fall/spring
  • Theatre, by Starting Arts - Starts in Jan/Feb
  • KidzToPros - classes offered in fall, winter, and spring
    • Computer Coding
    • Basketball
    • Soccer
    • Tennis
  • Yoga 
  • Chess - two sessions, fall and winter/spring
  • Lego Club
