Fundraising Activities

Fundraising for Ponderosa's enrichment programs is done one year in advance (i.e. the fundraising activities going on this year will support program plans for the following school year). The Foundation programs are: Arts for K-5^th, 5th Grade Science Camp transportation, and books for classrooms and the library. In addition, we try to put aside some funds each year for future technology investments.

PEPCO primarily raises funds for these programs through:

 

Donations

• Direct Donations - Donations are appreciated at any time. This is the best way to ensure that every dollar you donate to PEPCO goes straight to the kids and programs at Ponderosa Elementary.

• Matching Grants from Corporations - Check with your HR department to determine the process for signing up.  Many times it can all be done online, other times it requires you to simply fill out a form and submit it to PEPCO. You will need one or both of the following: PEPCO's Tax ID# 26-0715870 and Ponderosa's NCES School ID# 063543006049.  

Events

• Walk-a-thon - This is our biggest fundraising event of the year and generates over one third of our fundraising goal. This year's Walk-a-thon occurs on April 26, 2019.

• Book Fairs (check out the featured books) - held at school 3 times a year:
  • September 22, 24-27, 2018
  • December 7-8, 2018
  • March 4-7, 2019

• Goodwill Truck Donation - Bring your unwanted household items to be donated to Goodwill. This event occurs on September 22, 2018.

Catalog Sales

• Students and their families can help raise money by selling goods through the Holiday Catalog and See's Candy Sales.

Collecting

• General Mills Box Tops for Education - collecting box tops.

Passive Earning

• Amazon Smile - Earn money for Ponderosa every time you shop Amazon. It’s EASY, and no cost to you! 

1. Logon to Smile.Amazon.com
2. Go to your Account Settings and “Choose Your Charity”.
3. Select “PEPCO” (Ponderosa Enrichment Programs Committee) as your charity.
4. Bookmark and use smile.amazon.com. Every time you shop, Ponderosa will receive ½% of your eligible purchases.

• eScrip - Visit the eScrip online mall when you shop online. Go to www.escrip.com and follow the links to sign up. Be sure to add “Ponderosa School PEPCO” (ID# 500002816) to your list of schools. Then follow the ‘Online Mall’ link to shop at many different merchants, such as Macy’s, Hotels.com, Starbucks, Babies R Us, Nordstroms, and more. Ponderosa will get a percentage of your qualifying purchases.

 

• Sports Basement - Save 10% and donate 10% at Sports Basement every time you shop. Sign-up in-store to become a Basementeer - for a short time it will be free when you mention Ponderosa Elementary while registering. Choose Ponderosa Elementary as your charity of choice and 10% of your purchase will be donated to Ponderosa. Already a Basementeer? Please double check that Ponderosa Elementary is your designated charity next time you shop.
